The KBP is studying what role affiliate members should play in the organization. Under its original By-laws, only those who are authorized to operate and are actually operating at least one broadcast station are qualified to be KBP members. However, in 2015, the KBP General Membership passed a resolution allowing the admission of affiliate members, due to the interest to join expressed by some organizations engaged in activities related to broadcasting.

In the past few years, among those who have expressed this interest, included producers of content for broadcast stations and social media who want to be part of the KBP’s self-regulatory system, which accredits announcers and on-air personalities who subscribe to the KBP’s code of conduct. Presently, only on-air personnel of regular members are accredited by the association.
